Fixing Wi-Fi dead zones
Placement fixes first, mesh only if you actually need it.
- 1
Move the modem up and out
Off the floor, out of the cupboard, away from the fish tank and microwave. Central and elevated placement fixes more dead zones than new hardware.
- 2
Check the band
5GHz is fast but short-range; 2.4GHz reaches further. If far rooms drop off, connect those devices to the 2.4GHz network.
- 3
Map it like we do
Our application has an interactive coverage check: pick your home type and nbn box position and it shows your dead zones. Try it even as an existing customer.
- 4
Then consider mesh
If placement doesn’t fix it, mesh will. Talk to your account manager for honest advice. We’ll never sell you mesh you don’t need.
